Planet Ðonn Studios is a small private recording studio where we pride ourselves on reproducing the "live sound and feel" of a band rather than overproducing and manufacturing the band's sound. We focus on the natural frequencies of the instruments rather than over compensating with eq, effects, and digital processing. The right mic in the right place for the instruments true field of frequency is the building block for all our productions.

We use handmade Avalon 737SP Preamps to capture the frequencies in their purest form. The final mixdown links directly to a custom built computer via the Layla Echo 24.  Cool Edit Pro and Wav Studio along with 3 sets of monitoring speakers and rested ears provide the ultimate touch for our mastering finalization arsenal.

PDS has been growing and recording for over 15 years in the Chicagoland area. It all started as an alternative to big corporate studios and quest for knowledge from some of the most influential people in the music industry while working for Warner Elektra Atlantic, WEA - Cleveland Branch. Thanks to all the musicians who took the time to discuss their playing and recording techniques during backstage appearances and Branch visits.
